How time flies...

Jaiden has started schooling. We are sending Jaiden to Tadika Dwi Pelangi, a kindergarten which is using Fun Gates system. After a few searches for kindergartens around Sri Petaling area back in October last year, we have finally decided to send Jaiden to Dwi Pelangi @ Salak South due to a few factors:
1) near to the babysitter's house - merely a 3 mins drive.
2) many good feedback from friends.
3) cleanliness and tidiness.

We kept brain wash Jaiden before the school starts on the 4th January 2012. We told him that school would be fun, lots of friends, lots of teachers and can learn lots of things. Time didn't wait for us, 4th January was getting near and both me and hubby was very excited thinking of how Jaiden would do in both academic and social skills.

Things turned out very well!!! We never expect Jaiden can be so steady. He went into his class feeling so excited seeing so many toys scattered on the tables. See photos for the real environment for the 1st day of school.

He finally calls Mummy!!!

After few months of anticipation, Jaiden finally calls me "Mummy" on one Sunday afternoon on the 21st March 2010!!! He has been calling Daddy for a couple of months already. No matter how I ask him to call me "Mummy", he refused to do so. He will either ignored me totally, or he will say "mmm oi" (don't want). I was getting more and more sad as I think "why he doesn't want to call me "mummy""? What did I do to make him refuse to call me?

On the 21 March 2010, as I was putting a pair of wet black slacks from the washing machine to the hanger, Jaiden pointed to the slacks and said "Daddy ar...". Then I responded by saying, "Yes, this is daddy's pants". Next, I pull out another black pants from the washing machine and put it into the hanger. Jaiden again pointed to the pants and said "Daddy ar...". This time, I said "No, this is mummy's pants. It's not daddy's". To my surprise, Jaiden responded by saying "Mummy ar...". I was so so sooo happy to hear that the 1st time! To make him call me again, I pulled out another wet clothes from the washing machine and he points to the clothes and said "Mummy ar...". **Heart melted** However, after 2-3 times of calling "mummy", he choose a simplified version -> "Mie". From then on, Jaiden has been continuously calling me "Ah Mie" until now...
Even though it's a simplified version, I am happy enough that he finally calls me :-)

Double Occasions

1 year 2 months 1 week 6 days old

2 occasions had just gone past; Christmas and our 2nd Wedding Anniversary. How did we celebrated 2009 Christmas? Nothing much has been done. Daddy gave Jaiden a Manchester United mini soccer ball meanwhile mummy gave him a snowman rattle as his Christmas gift. We stayed home watching 富贵们 until late afternoon, then cooked porridge for Jaiden at 5:15pm. After feeding Jaiden, we went to my SIL’s house as Benjamin (her eldest son) was celebrating his 14 years old birthday at their home. As usual, makan makan then cake session. We left her place at a little past 9pm and headed straight home.

We attended another Christmas Party at Pik Yin’s house at Sungai Long. The main purpose for us joining them is to let Jaiden mix with more kids there. Secondly, Pik Yin SMSed me to extend her invitation, so we feel “mm hou yi si” to reject her. Anyway, Jaiden had a great time playing with the kids there. Even though he cried loudly for a couple of times, in the end he enjoyed after familiarized with the environment there.

On the 28th December, we sent Jaiden to Ngo Jeh as we planned to celebrate our anniversary without Jaiden this time. Hahaha… no la… not that we don’t want Jaiden to come with us, but Jaiden is too young to watch movie with us in a cinema. Furthermore, the movie that we watched (Avatar) lasted for 2 hours 40 minutes. I’m sure he will scream in the cinema and in the end, we might just get ditched by the person-in-charge :P OK back to our itinerary of that day. We reached One Utama at about 11:15am. The first thing we did was to purchase Avatar movie ticket at TGV. Yay!!! We’re going to watch 2:20pm show. We had our brunch at TGIF.

After meal, we shopped around for some CNY clothings and present for my niece’s birthday. I got myself a pair of sandals (for work purpose), 1 shoulder bag, 1 cap and 1 polo-tee meanwhile hubby bought himself 3 tees. We rushed to the cinema as we were getting really late for the show. Luckily the show was yet to start. We were given (loaned to be exact) a pair of 3D spectacles as the Avatar that we’re going to watch is a 3D version. Overall, the movie is good (I’m amazed by the 3D effect).

We continued our shopping spree after the movie, but we did not get to buy anything. We left at 6:30pm to Sri Petaling to fetch Jaiden. We headed to Ah Wet at Yulek for our Thai dinner. The foods there were simply fantastic!!!

A Trip to Cameron Highland

1 year 2 months 6 days

It’s year end. Like other families, we planned for a short family trip and this would be Jaiden’s 1st trip! We have decided to go to Cameron Highlands on the 19th and back on the 20th December. This is also to celebrate daddy mummy 2nd year ROM Anniversary. We booked De La Ferns hotel from the internet to enjoy a cheaper internet rate. It costs us around RM230 per night stay in a Deluxe King room.

We started packing only on the night before we depart. Ya, what a last minute packing ya… We put Jaiden to bed after we have packed things needed in the room to avoid waking up Jaiden in the middle of his sleep. Hence, he slept at 11+pm that night (he usually sleeps at about 9+pm on normal days).

The next day, daddy and mummy woke up at 7:15am. Mummy had many tasks lining up, i.e.: prepare Jaiden’s porridge to be brought to Cameron for his dinner, prepare his breakfast, making sure all the necessities are packed, meanwhile daddy needs to bath Jaiden and feed him breakfast. We left home at about 9:45am. We went to a nearby coffee shop for our breakfast before begin our journey.

We took the Simpang Pulai exit from the North South highway as this was recommended by hubby’s friend as well as my brother-in-law. Night mare started when we entered Cameron. Not long after we saw the Selamat Datang Ke Cameron Highland signage, traffic started to crawl. It took us about 20 minutes (rough estimation) to reach Equatorial Hotel. Jam jam jam…. From EQ, it took us more than 2 hours to reach De La Ferns hotel which is located between Tanah Rata and Brinchang. Jaiden was getting very annoyed and agitated after sitting in the car seat for more than 4 hours. I carried him out of the car seat and tried to console him, fed him milk, played with him, etc… At last, we reached De La Ferns hotel at about 4:20pm. Even though Jaiden was getting a little grumpy in the car, once we brought him to the hotel lobby, he was so happy and exploring with a big smile (while daddy is doing the check in).

Jaiden happily exploring the hotel lobby

We went to our room (302) and Jaiden was so happy to see the room. Walked non stop, exploring the cupboard, bed, table, bathroom and every single corner in the room. After a while, we showered Jaiden and went to OK Tuck for steamboat dinner. We proceed to the night market to buy some vege and fruits. Daddy has to carry Jaiden ~ ended up daddy’s hand half paralyze as Jaiden should weigh approximately 11kg by now. Mummy not carrying anything? Of course not. Mummy has to carry things we bought from the night market. It was not light neither ya…

After the tiring stroll, we went back to the hotel and fed Jaiden before putting him to bed at 10+pm. Luckily Jaiden fell asleep not long after we switched off all the lights and turned on his night time music from my walkman phone.

Jaiden exploring the room

We woke up at 8am the next morning getting ready for breakfast in the hotel coffee house. We checked out the hotel at about 11am and we went to the morning market to buy more vege and fruits. The last stop was at the tea plantation to snap a few picture before we head to Ipoh for our brunch. We reached Ipoh at about 2+pm and we had the famous Ipoh Chicken rice with taugeh in Ipoh town. We left Ipoh at 3+pm and reached home at 8+pm.

Moral learnt from this trip:
Never ever go to Cameron Highlands during long weekend or school holiday. Our trip falls on a long weekend (Friday was a holiday), furthermore it’s school holiday! That’s why we were stucked in the jam for more than 2 hours. According to a Malay lady that I chatted with at the tea plantation spot, she was stucked in the jam for more than 4 hours! So friends, plan your trip well ;-)

Trip to Thean Hou Temple

1 year 1 month 1 week 5 days

We went to Thean Hou Temple last Sunday for some prayers in the morning. Then, we attended our colleague's baby boy's fullmoon lunch party at USJ. Really nothing much story to tell, but some photos to share.

Visit to the Paed

1 year 1 month 1 week 2 days

We brought Jaiden for his Chicken Pox injection last night. He was weighing 10.8kg. The paed did not measure his height and head circumference as this was just measured a month ago. This jab made Jaiden cried out loud, one of the longest cry he had after being jabbed.

We asked Dr. Koe why does Jaiden develops rashes around his mouth whenever we feed him food with more "taste". She asked us to monitor and looking at the rashes he had around his mouth last night, she said it doesn't matter. Most likely he has skin sensitivity since mummy has sensitive skin too. We also checked with Dr. Koe why Jaiden coughs every morning after he woke up from his beauty sleep. Dr. Koe suspects that it could be due to his weak lung. He prescribed him a medication to strengthen his lung. Hope this medicine really helps.

The Dancing Baby

Jaiden is dancing! Ya... Jaiden starts dancing when he listens to his favorite songs. He would dance once the TV plays Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and Insey Winsey Spider during his meal time (we usually place him infront of the TV, showing him the "My Baby Can Talk" CD). He would also dance in the car when he is in his car seat listening to a few of his favorite songs such as Horsey Horsey Don't You Stop, Six Little Ducks That I Once Knew, Ten Green Bottles, etc... How did he dance? Hahaha... As simple as moving both his hands up, twisting his body a little bit from left to right. Ya, it's that simple, but enough to keep his daddy & mummy entertained.

Some sentimental photos :-)

Lucky Jaiden

Jaiden is such a lucky boy. Lucky in the sense that daddy & mummy found him a very good babysitter, Ngo Jeh. Ngo Jeh seeing Jaiden down with flu for 10 days (today 11th days), she make him bird nest soup yesterday! Ya... Jaiden had bird nest soup yesterday!! (Mummy hasn't been drinking bird nest soup for God knows how many years!!). Ngo Jeh said seeing Jaiden sick for so many days, she decided to give him something more "yun". She has been feeding him Scoot Emulsion, vitamin C, "5 guk" rice, "10 guk" rice (which I've never heard of it), so she don't understand why is he not recovering yet. All those "5 or 10 guk" rice are full of nutrients. Now you know why I say Jaiden is a lucky baby ;-) Oh by the way, Jaiden will be having another round of bird nest soup today as well.

Some catch-up on Jaiden's new vocabulary: -
Daaa daaaa: Joy Joy (our pet)
Eeee: Egg
Dum: Drum

Daddy is sick

Virus dear virus... Why don't you want to leave our family yet? Ya... after Jaiden and mummy down with flu (still not recovered till now), daddy's turn to fall sick now. Daddy was sick on Sunday and he is on MC today. Praying hard that the flu bug will leave our family soon... Poor Jaiden has been suffering from flu for 10 days already. Could it be the parents' fault? We did not bring Jaiden to see the paed because we do not want him to be so dependent on the medication. We hope his body will fight with the virus, hence boost up his immune system and antibody.

Jaiden has been enjoying his nice porridge over the weekend. Mummy tested, and agreed that it's yummy!!! Mummy will do the same porridge for the family soon ;-)

Walk unaided

Jaiden can now walk unaided!! Last couple of days, he tried hard to get up from a sitting/ kneeling position to a standing position. He was trying that even at night, when I tried to tuck him to sleep! At last, he is able to do so now. He can even stand from a sitting position. This morning, before we left home for work, he went into the small room where we kept his electronic lantern. He took the lantern and I helped to walk him out of the room and get him seated on the floor near the dining table. While I was getting ready to put things into the car, I saw him walking unaided, one hand holding on to the electronic lantern! I was amazed at how he progresses.

Din't manage to take a photo of him walking with his lantern. Will have to put the camera at a more accessible place next time.

This is a photo of him walking like a drunken master holding a remote control.

Mummy is sick

Never cross my mind to blog about me falling sick. It was hubby's idea to blog it (kind of domino effect?) since the previous blog was "Jaiden is sick". Jaiden is yet to recover, there comes another sick people at home. Daddy, be strong ya!!

I am down with flu as well (virus from Jaiden most likely). Took MC yesterday and rested at home. After sending hubby to work and Jaiden to Ngo Jeh, I went to Poliklinik Pertama to see doctor. Then, went home and took medication and slept at about 10:30am. Until what time? Hehehe... this lazy and sick mummy slept until 3:00pm, still want to continue... but forced myself up to refresh a bit, went online and eat some bread for the 4:00pm medication. Still FB-ing until 4:30pm, took a quick shower and left home at 5:00pm to fetch hubby from work and Jaiden from Ngo Jeh.

I'm at work today, but constantly went to the ladies to make wantan as my nose is basically blocked the whole day. Maybe left with 1/6 section (in the nostril) for me to breath. Not a good idea to go to work... should have taken 2 days MC...

Totally out of scope... (non-Jaiden related). But here goes some photos of Jaiden taken with his Police car.

Jaiden is sick

Sigh... Something that is unavoidable. Jaiden is down with flu starting last Saturday. This makes him more cranky as compared to normal days. Where did he gets the virus from? The other kid that Ngo Jeh is taking care of la.... This boy is having flu last week. Despite how Ngo Jeh asked him not to go near Jaiden, he will go near Jaiden, kiss him, play with him, etc... Me and hubby have already predicted that Jaiden will catch flu soon.

We gave Jaiden the flu medication prescribed by paed. (from the last round he had flu) at night. Nevertheless, he had difficulty breathing and he woke up a few times in the middle of the night. Neither hug, carry nor swing can tame him down. We fed him some warm water and soon after that he fall asleep. The next day, I decided not to give him the flu medication anymore as too much "western" medication will make him very "yeok". I gave him 1/2 of "bao ying dan" in the morning after his breakfast. Jaiden had difficulty to take his morning nap as well. He only managed to sleep for an hour. I gave him the other 1/2 of "bao ying dan" at night before he go to sleep. At last, I don't see any difficulty of him breathing when I tuck him to sleep then.
