We've got our baby a baby mattress today. After much consideration between a latex mattress and a coconut husk mattress, we have decided to go for coconut husk due to a few reasons: -
1) coconut husk can protect baby's back bone.
2) coconut husk mattress can be brought under sun shine if baby pee pee on it.
3) coconut husk mattress is 4Xs cheaper than a latex mattress.
Since this mattress can only be used for a maximum of 1 to 1.5 years, we were thinking not to spend too much on it. Luckily we have got a sales girl who told us the good points of a coconut husk mattress (as listed above). So we have no hesitation to buy our baby a coconut husk mattress.
The mattress at a measurement of 118cm x 60cm cost us RM140 (after 20% discount from a mattress fair at Leisure Mall). We are very satisfied with the quality. It's not the ordinary coconut husk mattress which is extremely hard. It is made of layers of coconut husk and processed rubber. So it's pretty soft and comfortable for our little one.
Our baby will be sleeping comfortably on a coconut husk mattress with a latex pillow soon ;-)

I bought a cheap foam mattress for Ethan, which he slept on for about 6 months only.
har.. u mean the 1st mattress that u bought for Ethan can only last for 6 months? Is it due to the quality or due to Ethan's growth?
the baby cot became too small for him. everytime he turned, he knocked the railing on the side and woke me up. the mattress is still in good condition
IC... then u can still use the mattress ya. Can put on the flr and let him take his nap in the afternoon. So where do Ethan sleeps when the cot is too small for him? Didn't you buy cot bumper as a cushion to surround the cot?
Got the bumper but probably the railing on the cot was loose hence the noise. He slept on a queen-size mattress since then until recently when we bought a single bed for him. Actually daddy is sleeping on the new bed coz Ethan wants to sleep in between us :-/
andy n i r big fans of king koil coconut husk matty..bought our first c.h. queen size mattie after julian was born..no turning back after that. very good for backache. i had serious backache after julian was born,and the matty came in handy, very good for backache. Now, we are using a king size c.h.also by king koil, cheap n good.
